Step 1: Get a Hotels.com Promo Code
We had a hotels.com coupon code 2 nights burning a hole in our pocket. We also had a desire to set out from Tulsa and go somewhere with a lot of 1. Heat, and 2. Great architecture. After a great debate over Italy vs. Spain, we ended up choosing Barcelona as our destination. Here’s a quick review of the Marriott hotel we stayed at in Barcelona. Keep in mind that we’re not affiliated with this hotel or the Marriott in any way, so we don’t get anything out of this review. We just wanted to share it:
Review of Marriott Renaissance Barcelona
There are many old and beautiful hotels in Barcelona close to attractions and with views of the marvellous architecture. But if you are looking for someplace convenient with a little bit of American amenities, you couldn’t do better than the Marriott Renaissance located near the airport. First are the free and frequent shuttles from all three terminals that will get you to the hotel within minutes of your arrival in Barcelona. Unfortunately, despite having gold status and having requested it, early check-in was not available. It’s hard to know where the problem was, but with most flights from America coming in early, it’s hard to imagine that this is an infrequent request.
But if you can’t get into a room, and you have status with Marriott, there is always the very nice and well stocked concierge lounge. There is food there all day, and the coolers are stocked with not only sodas and water, but beer and wine. Alcohol flows freely in the afternoon, and there are big screen TVs on the wall, with a few American stations available.
Coupon Coder Insiders Tip: Inside the concierge lounge is the private elevator to the elite wing where you can access one of the beautifully appointed rooms. The layout is standard Marriott, but the furnishings are very nice and the beds are fantastic. The bathroom is nicely laid out with both American and European amenities. Despite being close to the airport and in an industrial area, noise from the outside was non-existent. It would be nice if they would apply some of the same noise reduction technology to the inside however. Voices from the hall and doors shutting weren’t dampened at all.
Everyone spoke fluent English and both the desk personnel and concierge were always friendly and helpful. The hotel handles currency exchange and there is an ATM just across the street. The hotel also supplies a free shuttle into the center of town where you can access other transportation.
Possibly for the same reason they can’t offer early check-in, room cleaning gets done fairly late in the day, so don’t be surprised to return to the room late afternoon and find it exactly as you left it. Requests to clean the room, however, were handled promptly and efficiently. Early check-out can be hectic as that is when most American’s are checking in, and there is no express check-out system on the television.
If you are conducting business in Barcelona, connecting through on a cruise ship, or just want a convenient location in familiar surroundings, the Marriot Renaissance in Barcelona is an excellent choice.
